In 2014, We were at a crossroads in our lives, facing redundancy and realisation of career choices that couldn’t be continued, we made the ‘mad’ decision to take on a pub.  When we lived in Swansea, our second home was The Office pub, a renowned live music venue in the heart of Swansea.  With our own love of live music, we made a promise to ourselves and that was to put live music at the forefront of pub life.

So, as our new chapter started, life in the pubs began in 2014 where we moved to a small coastal town and took on our first pub.  Although we were new to the scene, we had plenty of motivation, spirit, and determination to become a lively, community-based pub with lots of music!

Challenge & Dreams accomplished!! We took on pub no2, in 2017 with as much enthusiasm as our first.  Again, bringing a community pub, closer and promoting the live music scene, although a slightly different environment from the first, the end result was still to be the same.

Fast forward, 2020 – the dreaded Covid Era for so many, but, for us… an opportunity presented itself, to be able to finally make a lifelong dream of ours into a reality! The Hanbury! A music venue in the heart of a city

Project Hanbury was a go! The previous owners had already given the Hanbury a legacy for us to build on with their own love of live music… it was a steppingstone, combine this with Jay’s skills and ability to visualise the venue and how it should look, there was no stopping him.  The results being of what you see today! Many long weeks/months endured, a lot of blood, sweat and tears given… but eventually we got to a point where we could finally stand back and say yes! Completely renovating the pub, the bar the quirky décor inc the bike on the bar and choppers hanging from ceilings he certainly tuned into a dream into a reality! Everywhere you look, there is always something to see 😊

For me, Kelly, I lurked in the background, building on the legacy left and introducing some great local talent to the new stage things finally took off!.  Reaching a point of satisfaction, we needed someone to run it, who better than someone with an equal love of live music… someone we could trust to build on what we had started… and believing in family, who better than our daughter Bae, who we are so glad that she is the face of the Hanbury!

Equal to our determination and motivation we all move forward together to showcase even more of the great local talent that Swansea offers, not only cover, but individual artists, original bands from near and far onto the scene,
